Welcome to Independent School's Training (Midlands)

Independent Schools Training for the Midlands (IST) is run by independent schools for independent schools to provide the best possible in-service training for the lowest possible price. Each of the Independent Schools' Council (ISC) member associations (GSA;HMC;IAPS; ISA and SHMIS) has at least one serving Head as a representative on the committee.

Through subject secretaries - all of whom are practising Heads of Department - the best In-Service Training can be identified and courses organised. By using school facilities, in preference to expensive hotels and conference centres, the costs are contained and that in turn means the best value courses in the country!

If you are a teacher within an Independent School - particularly within the Midlands region - then we warmly invite you to look at the courses available this year and, through the relevant link, make application for the course that you wish to attend, make suggestions about courses that you would like to see run and, of course, provide feedback on courses that you have attended. This organisation is run for your benefit, so your contribution is vital to IST's continued success.

Membership of IST is £30pa per school and, whilst each course is charged for separately. NO course will cost more than £50. The membership fee allows some courses to be heavily subsidised - which ensures even better value for money for the individual teacher!
